Internship Overview:

The intern will work with the Parks and Recreation department, the city of Cripple Creek, and local stakeholders for implementing goals from a community action plan. The three of the five goals for the action plan are listed below.

Goals, Scope and Objectives:

The internship goals are as follows:
1. Help create strategies to manage existing recreation assets and infrastructure, while also planning for
future developments?
2. Work on meeting planning to create a community plan for an existing mural and pocket park site in downtown Cripple Creek.
3. Destination Stewardship Marketing and Promotion: How can we increase availability of marketing and promotional materials to raise
awareness of existing assets and attractions?
The cope of this internship will include planning and hosting meetings. Collecting ideas and strategies from local stakeholders. Helping to create marketing materials and idea generation for marketing current assets of the community.
the main objectives are to 1. host a visioning session for the proposed park and 2. help create marketing strategies to increase awareness and use of local assets and attractions. Cripple Creek is know as a “gambling town”, how can we show it is more than that.

With which stakeholder group(s) will the intern work?

The City of Cripple Creek, Cripple Creek Parks and Recreation, the local heritage center, the county of Cripple Creek, the Mayor of Cripple Creek and multiple small business owners.

What student learning outcomes do you anticipate and what are the opportunities for professional development?

Community action planning, by interviewing stake holders and holding community meetings.
Working with professionals to develop marketing strategies.
Improved communication skills through both written and verbal practice.
Community and Economic development through actionable goals.
