Internship Overview:
The Lincoln County Fair has been an integral event for our rural county to come together to celebrate the agricultural and community achievements throughout the year. This internship is designed as a document review and qualitative interview data collection to discover more about the fair and its impacts on the community overtime.
Goals, Scope and Objectives:
The intern will collect and analyze multiple historical documents located throughout libraries in Lincoln County throughout the summer of 2024 to collect historical data about the Lincoln County Fair. The intern will interview multiple stakeholders and community groups to gain historical knowledge about the Lincoln County fair through personal and professional experiences throughout the summer of 2024. The intern will interview multiple stakeholders and community groups to document personal impacts of the Lincoln County Fair through personal and professional experiences. The intern will engage with the planning, preparation, and execution of the Lincoln County fair to document the progression and change of the fair throughout the years. The intern will create multiple ideas of a painted mural to document and celebrate the fair throughout the years to be painted in the next year. Scope There are two main pieces to this project: research and experiences. The research will be document analysis and interviews of stakeholders. The experience will be the contribution to planning and executing the fair today to understand the impact historically overtime to present day. Objectives: Analyze historical documents about the county fair and its impacts on Lincoln County. Interview, compile, and analyze interviews from local stakeholders to describe the fair and its impacts on community members in Lincoln County. Assist and experience the planning, preparation, and execution of the Lincoln County Fair to have contextual experience with the fair.
With which stakeholder group(s) will the intern work?
Student will work with the Lincoln County Fair Committee, local historical groups, and the 4-H youth in Lincoln County.
What student learning outcomes do you anticipate and what are the opportunities for professional development?
Student will find and analyze historical documents relating to the Lincoln County Fair. Student will interview and document historical experiences and facts from community members about the Lincoln County Fair. Student will interview and document the experiences and impact of the Lincoln County Fair. Student will analyze all data to create poster and research paper highlighting the impact and importance of the fair on community, agriculture, and youth in Lincoln County.
