Internship Overview:

This internship will focus on analyzing the topics identified in the Arapahoe County CSU Extension needs assessment and creating educational plans that align with these topics. Topics might include STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math), natural resources, animal science, workforce development, healthy living, and outdoor education. The intern will develop educational plans to support 4-H outreach, clubs, and volunteer efforts as well as evaluating the program using both quantitative and qualitative data collection.

Goals, Scope and Objectives:

Arapahoe County Extension offers robust programs in 4-H youth development, family and consumer sciences, horticulture, community development, and outreach. The Arapahoe County 4-H program currently involves more than 3,500 youth participating in club, community, and outreach activities.

The scope of the internship will focus on analyzing the topics identified in the Arapahoe County CSU Extension needs assessment and creating educational plans that align with these topics. Topics might include STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math), natural resources, animal science, workforce development, healthy living, and outdoor education. The intern will develop educational plans to support 4-H outreach, clubs, and volunteer efforts as well as evaluating the program using both quantitative and qualitative data collection.

With which stakeholder group(s) will the intern work?

This internship will actively collaborate with Arapahoe County 4-H staff, volunteers, and youth. They will also work with county youth serving organizations such as libraries, public schools, community centers, Arapahoe County Open Spaces, and nonprofit organizations. This intern will work with closely with staff, volunteers, and partners to develop educational plans and evaluation tools for the 4-H program.

What student learning outcomes do you anticipate and what are the opportunities for professional development?

This internship will provide the student with hands-on learning opportunities focusing on communication skills, teamwork, successful work habits, critical thinking and problem solving, and professional resiliency and adaptability. The internship will also be an excellent opportunity for a student to learn transferable skills related program development, delivery, and evaluation.
